Castravalva is a family holiday home which was lovingly restored. It was previously uninhabited for several decades and before that by five generations of the same family. We hope that the restoration has both honoured Castavalvaโs distinguished past and provided some luxury and style for those that chose to holiday here.
The house is ideal for family gatherings, sleeping 8 guests with 3 bedrooms, 1 studio with double sofabed and 2 bathrooms (plus a downstairs WC). This residence is located over 2 floors has been sympathetically designed to highlight its beautiful period features. Sunbathe or enjoy an aperitivo before dinner on the main terrace (with views the world-famous Villa Balbianello), or upper terrace (with views toward Villa Melzi and Bellagio).
The ground floor features ample living space including a purpose-built kitchen with all mod cons and a dining area, a lounge with seating for 8, a fully equipped study room, as well as ample space on the terrace to dine alfresco whilst enjoying the lake view. The 1st floor has 3 bedrooms and the family bathroom. The master bedroom has an ensuite and a stunning copper bath within the room where you can relax and enjoy wonderful views of the mountains.Mezzegra is in the heart of the Tremezzina area of Lake Como. Villages such as Bellagio, Menaggio and Tremezzo are close by, making Mezzegra a perfect base for a Lake Como vacation.
Parts of the village, like Castravalva itself, date back hundreds of years. You will be immersed in the culture of one of lake Comoโs most historic villages that now is designated a Centro Storico. These are highly protected areas where preservation of historical buildings is given great importance. The residence looks out onto the Centro Storico de Bonzanigo on one side, and the lake and beautiful Saint Abbondio Church on the other. At the bottom of the road is the Casa dei Presepi, a local museum. Mezzegra is a real working Italian Village. The cobbled lanes, narrow alleys, and stunning buildings create an atmosphere of old Italy. You will always feel that you are in a real village that has more to it than just tourism. Walking is easy and enjoyable around this part of the lake and a car is not essential.
The village offers fresh bread and pastries from an artisan baker, a choice of two general stores, and a green grocer selling local produce. Two minutes further on and you are by the lake.
